Truthfest!
What is a Truthfest? It’s a silly term I came up with to describe a certain sort of fellowship. A Truthfest is when Christians get together and, in rapid-fire style, describe God’s recent activity in their lives. The purpose of a it is to challenge and encourage each other with soundbytes of God’s goodness and refocus ourselves on Him rather than our circumstances or struggles.
Every Friday, we’ll post a Truthfest, sharing what God has been teaching us over the past week, and how He has met us. We’re writing these mostly to encourage each other, but we hope that you’re equally encouraged and reminded of God’s grace.
If you care to, comment and tell us how God has revealed Himself to you this past week! Here’s how He’s met us:
Debbie Jane – ”The man who fears God will avoid all extremes.” (Ecc. 7:18b, NIV) God has been showing me that the extremes I’m prone to follow (be it a method of study, a personal quirk, or a tendency to judge) are foolish, because my mind gets so wrapped up in them. My number one priority, and ONLY extreme, should be passionately loving God and following the example of Christ.
Hännah – The Lord has been challenging me to be satisfied in Him alone, and to find in Him all my joy and delight. For He is far better than anything else I would seek.
“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you and everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.” (Is. 55:1-3, ESV)
Kaitlin – I’ve been reminded several times this week that I am able to do all things by Christ’s strength, and it is His perfect love that casts out any fear in me.
Kate – This week God has been especially revealing my weaknesses and need of Him. It’s not always comfortable, but delighting in these weaknesses and running to Him is the only way to true peace in His sustaining grace!
Katie Marie – After many prayers and much hard work spanning nearly a month, my dad finally fixed his truck! All of my family is grateful for God’s blessing in this, and I mark this praise down as yet another testimony to God’s faithfulness. We celebrated with banana splits!
Kelsey – This week God has been teaching me to see his beauty in places where I wouldn’t normally look for it. He is showing me how things around me point to him. (Ezekiel 31)
Riëtte – ”But for me it is good to be near God” -Psalm 73:28 This week I’ve been swamped with work and life. And even though I truly enjoy all of what I’m doing, God’s really taught me that the only place where I can find fulfillment is with Him.
Stephanie – God’s grace is never too busy for the small things—what a happy rediscovery! I scored 100% on two quizzes in my least favorite subject (math) this week! It stirs me to adore His attentiveness, give Him all the credit, and to posture my heart and mind to always expect His profound grace, even when packaged in such little things.

He’s teaching me that He’s the Potter and I’m the stubborn lump of clay. He can do anything, and that includes breaking me, which I think He’s doing as my grandma lies on her deathbed. When life is hardest, God’s grace feels strongest.
