Perspective From a Faithful Woman of God

Sometime ago I found the above quotation from Susannah Spurgeon. Its words speak volumes about the condition of her heart. Rather than elaborate on what has been so beautifully expressed, I would encourage you to ponder her words. She tells us that we are to:
1) Speak of the Gospel
2) Recall the faithfulness of God
3) Reciprocate faithfulness

Amen. How often we deny God’s Faithfulness and Truth by doing all in our own power. How often we stop even whispering His Gospel and allow the shouts of this world to crowd and seemingly overcome, even in our own souls. How often we forget the Promises, the Love, the Power embraced in sharing the Cross.
How often we could delight Him and know the favor of being His beloved if we but would!

It gives some perspective to our world now. You know, we tend to look around and act in unsurprised horror to the perversion and blasphemy around us, but I’m afriad we’re really far too comfortable with it. If it was bad in Susannah Spurgeon’s time, it’s definitely much worse now, and we need to be reminded of this and encouraged to combat the infidelity of the world by remaining faithful to our Lord, through His power.
