Journaled Prayers
Have you ever been encouraged by reading the prayers of saints from years long past? I have–especially through the compilation of Puritan prayers and meditations called The Valley of Vision. Here’s some journaling of my own that might encourage you, or at least give you a peek into what the Lord’s been teaching me. Most of my journaling ends up in scattered bits of truth that I’m trying to speak to myself, combined with bits of Scripture, and ending in a prayer of sorts. The Bible translation I use is the ESV.

Do you journal? How do you remember what our dear Father’s been teaching you? What helps you to meditate on His Word?

I LOVE to journal! Thanks for sharing your journal with us… it is encouraging to see other’s thoughts and routines in journaling. I have found my journal to be a steady reminder of God’s faithfulness and encouragement through all my years. That is such a blessing that can be passed from generation to generation.
Thanks for your thoughts!
This was curious! How you write in your journal is almost the same exact method that I use! I didn’t think anyone else wrote like I did. Very encouraging post(o: I think journaling is important, because you can look back in a hard time and see how God brought you through everything. Journaling helps me to remember that God is faithful.
Funny that I should stumble upon this today because I have recently be thinking about how I need to resume my old journaling habits that have dwindled somewhat over the past year! It is important to write down what God is teaching us *while* He is teaching it to us, otherwise we might forget the lessons we have learned (and then we might be forced to learn them all over again).
Thank you for an encouraging post!

I keep two journals… one for my *Heavenly Prince*, Jesus, and the other for my Future Earthly Prince. In them I write thoughts, prayers, and whatever the Lord is doing within my heart today. I have already completed several journals, and it is so amazing to look back to where God has brought me from to where I am today *in Him*… It also feels so rewarding to be able to start a new journal with pages waiting to be filled. A few months ago, I also started a third journal to give to my children someday…I like writing my favorite stories, quotes, hymns, and lessons learned in hopes that they might be a blessing to my own daughter or son one day.
If any girls are praying about journaling but don’t know how or where to begin… look to the writings of Godly women for your example such as Amy Carmichael or Elisabeth Elliot. Of course… the bible is the best place to look too : )

Love this! I am a huge journal junkie! My husband would say his favorite gift was the “letters to my future husband” I gave him on our honeymoon night. There are so many wonderful gifts that lie in journalling and remembering where God has brought us!
